On 18.08.2016, the Crisis Management Center accepted the offer made by Macedonian Association of Young Lawyers (MYLA) for the provision of free preliminary legal assistance to citizens in flooded areas and obliged the municipalities in regions where emergency crisis has been declared, to provide suitable premises where the activity will take place.
MYLA’s team quickly and unanimously decided to get involved and contribute to a faster and more effective management of the flooding damages, in legal terms, with the commitment of about 25 young lawyers who will work voluntarily and in addition to their work activities. The number of more than 3,000 affected households is a challenge that MYLA’s lawyers accepted to face, and support people who experienced serious consequences of floods.
Macedonian Young Lawyers Association is authorized to provide free preliminary legal assistance in accordance with the Law for free legal aid, based on the decision of the Ministry of Justice no. 11-472 since 15.06.2011
